Educational/Training Lunch & Learns

How to adopt a Zero Waste Mindset during the Festive Season

Christmas Scene.jpg

The holiday season is a wonderful time of year, but it is also unfortunately a time of excess waste: decorations, packaging, gift wrap, food… But it doesn’t have to be!

This interactive Lunch and Learn is a fantastic way to engage staff around sustainability. Attendees will learn about the philosophy behind zero waste, the zero waste hierarchy, the sharing economy and be taught tangible changes they can make in both their thinking and actions during the holiday season around consumption, waste and even their diet.

This inspiring session will help participants embrace zero waste living, the sharing economy, exchange sustainable, seasonal tips and ideas and get into the festive mood!

Zero Waste Lifestyle Workshops

Recycled Christmas Card Making Workshop

Did you know that up to 1 billion cards could end up going into the bin this Christmas. Additionally, 300,000 tonnes of card packaging is said to be used during the festive season, which is enough to cover London's Big Ben almost 260,000 times!

So instead of adding to this waste, during this workshop participants will be able to use their arts & crafts skills to create a unique, personalised festive card to give to a friend or family member, using a variety of scrap paper, magazines, flyers, old cards and other materials.

Upcycled Christmas Decoration & Cracker Making Workshop

(This workshop is only available for clients based in Cambridge & London)

Did you know that, every year in the UK alone, we spend around £26 million disposing of Christmas-related waste that is taken to landfills. 12,500 tonnes of Christmas decorations are also dumped, totalling £1.2m in value.

To do things differently, this workshop will give participants to learn how to make simple, yet attractive baubles for their tree, and plastic free crackers all using scrap paper or old clothes and fabric offcuts.

The workshop will also feature a demonstration of the Furoshiki method and participants can practice wrapping gifts in a way that will leave them with beautiful-looking presents, but without the mountains of wasted wrapping paper, glue and tape!
